Florida Equestrian Portraits
North West Florida Horse
Brooke & Teo
I absolutely love these Florida equestrian portraits, that light, this scene, everything just pieces so well together. You wouldn’t think (besides a few photos) that just a few weeks prior to this session Hurricane Michael hit Brooke’s home. The eye passed directly over her town and the results are devastating. I honestly wasn’t prepared for the damage when I started driving west. I saw way more downed trees than I had in my entire life, I thought that was crazy! Then I got off the interstate and I could not believe what I was seeing. Houses completely knocked to the ground, trees covering houses, siding completely ripped off of barns and buildings. It was awful. Believe it or not, Brooke was one of the fortunate ones. They have to have their roof replaced, their pole barn completely fell over, and their property looks like a bomb blew over all of the trees. Despite all of that, we managed to find this beautiful location for photos of her and her horse, Teo. It was only a small square that looked untouched, but we made it work!
A few years ago Brooke told me she was breeding her mare, I thought she was crazy! Then again, I always think Brooke is crazy with her horse endeavors, like the time she bought a Thoroughbred straight off the track from New York, but that’s an entirely different story. Now, she has Teo, a foal that she bred. Teo is a coming two-year-old and is a Thoroughbred X Paint. He’s a character, you should have seen him playing with his brother, Nugget, a miniature donkey. I loved taking these Florida Equestrian Portraits. The light was stunning, the horse was well behaved, and the photos turned out beautifully.
