South Florida Equestrian Photoshoot

Julia, Gringo, & Bravo

This South Florida photoshoot is one of my favorites! Julia and her family are one of those people who are so welcoming, you feel like you have known them forever. They own an equestrian center in North Fort Myers, so I bribed my husband to come to South Florida with me. We turned it into a weekend trip and spent the afternoon with Julia, her sister, and Julia’s horses. It was a gorgeous afternoon, we could not have asked for better weather. We spent every moment of daylight that we could taking photos! I rarely get to photograph in the blue hour because (let’s face it) people and horses get tired of being photographed. My sessions usually end right after the sun tips behind the trees. However, we were having such a good time that we kept going well after the sun tipped the horizon.

It is impossible for me to choose just one favorite from this South Florida photoshoot. I am drawn to the goofy blooper photos of Bravo nibbling Julia’s hair, and Bravo and Gringo having a “brotherly moment” while Julia was riding Gringo. However, because I do not get to do it often, I do think the “blue hour” photos are my favorite. When the sun tipped the horizon and the gorgeous golden light was gone, we flipped around and photographed against a gorgeous pink sky. Following Julia’s session we tried to narrow down the photos together. There were so many that we both were drawn to! Julia decided to put her favorites into a beautiful linen album. Now she gets to relive the fun we had together, and the bond she shares with her horses, every time she opens her album. I know I say this often, but I could photograph this trio all day, any day!
