Every horse girl has a first—the first ride, the first lesson, the first horse who teaches you how to fall, get back up, and try again. For Madelyn, that horse is Clarice, her beautiful Saddlebred mare.

We photographed their session in Birmingham, Alabama, and it was the kind of shoot that reminds you why it’s so important to document every season of the horse journey—not just the ribbons and polished rides, but the in-between moments where the real bond is built.

Clarice is full of personality and presence, and Madelyn clearly adores her. Whether they were walking side by side, sharing quiet cuddles, or striking a pose for the camera, their connection shined through. As a bonus, we also got a few photos of Madelyn with her barn bestie. They will remember these moments forever!
