One of my favorite parts of photographing breed shows is getting to meet passionate, dedicated riders—people like Andrea, who I met at the Appaloosa Horse Club of Tennessee’s Spring Bash. Not long after the show, she reached out to schedule a session with her two beautiful Appaloosa mares: Shiloh and Sierra.

We met in Columbia, Tennessee for a session that celebrated not just her horses, but the exciting season she’s in. After some time away from the arena, Andrea recently returned to the show ring, and her love for the sport—and her horses—radiated through every frame.

Shiloh and Sierra each brought their own unique energy to the session, and I loved capturing their individual personalities. From classic, timeless portraits to natural, candid moments of Andrea loving on her girls, we created a collection of images that truly reflect the bond they share. These mares clearly mean the world to her.

Whether you’re just starting your show journey or returning after time away, there’s something really meaningful about pausing to document it. Breed show horses like Shiloh and Sierra are not only competition partners—they’re friends, teammates, and a huge part of our personal growth.

If you’re heading into a new show season or riding chapter, don’t wait to capture it. These sessions aren’t just about polished photos—they’re about preserving your journey, wherever you are in it.
