Nicole and Caleb

This western couples photography session was so much fun! Nicole and Caleb are recently engaged, so why not include their horses in their engagement session? The horses were perfect for the session, especially Goldie! Goldie, Nicole’s barrel racing horse, was a beautiful contrast with her coat color; doesn’t her flaxen mane remind you of a Barbie horse? Nicole and Caleb are adorable together, the way Caleb looks at Nicole is so sweet, I always love the couples that you can almost see the love in the air. The day of our session was beautiful… until it wasn’t (thanks, Florida!), luckily their barn is right inside of Fernandina Beach and the rain seemed to stay on the other side of the island. I absolutely loved their western attire, it was a happy change of pace for this hunter girl! There are days where I wish I could wear the colorful boots with awesome patterns, or the large belt buckles that shine in the light. It’s definitely much easier to make a style statement as a western rider! Not to mention their outfits paired perfectly with their brightly colored red barn.

One of the hardest things about being a Florida horse photographer is the weather (it can be incredibly unpredictable here!), but also getting horses ears up for the photos! One of my favorite tricks is using an app on my phone with horse noises to get their attention. Nicole’s horses were so funny when I played the horse noises for them, they even started to answer back at one point! I think all of us were laughing at how excited they were at the possibility of having a new friend on the property.
