Laura, Bentley, & Apple

When searching for an equestrian photographer in Alabama, one of the tops things you may want to consider is relatability. When Laura started telling me about her horse, Bentley, leading up to her session all I could think was “That sounds a lot like my old man,”. Then, I met Bentley… and sure enough he has a lot in common with my late first horse! Bentley is also Laura’s first horse and they have spent almost two decades together. They have lived in various places along the eastern United States together, and now call Northern Alabama “home”. Though their competition days are over, Laura still enjoys Bentley’s company as he enjoys retirement. There is nothing as special as a first horse, and I know that first hand.

Although photos with Bentley were most important to Laura, she also has a new horse in her life who we needed to pictures of too! Laura began leasing “Apple” when she moved to northern Alabama. I am so honored to be their equestrian photographer in Alabama! Apple is a gorgeous Quarter Horse mare who Laura competes at American Quarter Horse Association shows with. Now, Laura has the best of both worlds as she gets to love on her old guy, Bentley, while continuing her riding with Apple. Together we created the most beautiful photos of both of Laura’s special horses on a bright, warm day near Birmingham, Alabama. We spent some time photographing the horses in a black background setting. Then we finished our afternoon with horse and rider photos of Laura with both horses. Laura also included her two year old son in her photos with Bentley, how sweet is that!
