Dressage Horse in Training
Mallory & Quartz
Mallory and her horse were such a pleasure to photograph. Quartz is a Warmblood dressage horse in training and also does some jumping. Mallory is only a senior in high school, but has done a great job with Quartz. I love to see young girls involved in their horses training. You can tell by the way Mallory and Quartz interact that they have a strong bond together. Quartz is only four years old, and she is pretty big! She stands around 17 hands. Mallory has so much patience with Quartz; patience is probably the hardest trait to have when working with horses. She just bought Quartz a few months before our equine portrait session together. You can already tell how much Quartz has grown (both physically and mentally) in those few months. I cannot wait to see what they are able to accomplish as a pair together.
Senior photography with horses is my absolute favorite. I love seeing the interaction the girls have with their ponies and remember myself at that age. Mallory could not wait to have photos with her horse! Although since it was “senior portraits” we did have to do some photos without Quartz. I personally loved so many from Mallory’s session that I had a hard time deciding what to post here! Mallory has ridden horses for years, and she has done it all! She started doing barrel racing, then moved to hunter/jumpers, and now does dressage and jumpers. She currently keeps Quartz at Prosperity Farms in Williston, FL. Her mom says that she spends more time at the barn than she does at home, and I believe it! I remember myself at Mallory’s age, you could not keep me away from the barn. Mallory is the same way and spends days at the barn riding and helping out around the barn.
I had such a great time with this pair. Thank you for choosing me to photograph your senior year, Mallory!
