As photographers, we often think to document the big milestones—but sometimes the sweetest memories happen in the in-between moments. This quick, sunshine-filled session in Fairhope, Alabama featured a very young rider, Kash, and her adorable pony, Minnie, and it was the perfect reminder of why I love photographing kids with ponies.

At this age, ponies aren’t just ponies—they’re best friends, sidekicks, and the source of a hundred giggles. The connection between a small child and her first pony is something so pure and fleeting, and being able to freeze that in a photograph? That’s where the magic is.
