Senior Photos on the Beach

Leyana, a local Live Oak high school senior, chose to have her senior photos on the beach. First, we started in downtown St Augustine, Florida. This area is one of my favorite places to photograph because of the large variety. I will be the first to admit that this location can be challenging. There are often a lot of cars, and the streets are small. I will only photograph in St Augustine on Tuesday-Thursday because of the foot traffic in the city too. Downtown is full of people all of the time! You can beat this sometimes by going during the off season between October-November and January-April. However, there is normally still a lot of people strolling the streets. Regardless, I love to find a side street with less people and spend our time there. The buildings are historic, beautiful, and for the most part well kept, so they make awesome backdrops.

After finishing up downtown, Leyana and I headed over to the beach. This particular day was a little stressful. The forecast showed no rain… until we reached Jacksonville! Once we got into Jacksonville it started pouring. We were all anxious for the session, but decided we were already there so might as well try to take photos in St Augustine and senior photos on the beach. There was no rain in downtown, but while driving to the beach we started seeing a lot of clouds. Luckily, when we turned onto the beach the clouds were just out of our location. They made for a gorgeous backdrop though! I love how the clouds made Leyana’s senior photos a little moody. Plus, once the sun started reflecting off of the clouds there was a beautiful pink cast… and even a rainbow!
